Meet the Coaching Staff

Joshua Saunders is in his fifteenth year as the head coach of Robinson Flag Football. During his time as head coach, the team has won eight straight district titles, had eight straight state appearances and won the 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 FHSAA State Championships. The varsity team has had a 105-4 record over the last six seasons. Outside of flag, Saunders teaches math to IB sophomores, juniors and seniors at Robinson. He is a 1993 Robinson graduate and attended USF, graduating in 1997 with a B.S. in Social Science Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership. Saunders has been married to his wife Erin for nine years and has a eight-year old son, Kallen.


  • He is a high school and Women's college basketball official and refereed the state finals in 2015, 2017, and 2019.

  • In 2015, Saunders was named to the NIRSA Editorial Board, the only high school coach on the Rules Committee.

  • He is a coach of the three time National Champion University of Florida Club Women's Flag Football Team.

Greg Green is in his eighth year of coaching Flag Football, where he works with the quarterbacks on offense and is the defensive coordinator. He played competitive flag football for 20 years, starting in college. Outside of flag, Green is an attorney, and is running for Circuit Court Judge in Hillsborough County. The election is in August and possibly November. He is married to Nese with a five-year old daughter, Skylar, and a three-year old daughter, Saige.


Assistant Coaches

Tim Mimbs is in his eighth year of coaching Flag Football, and is extremely proud of the 5 state championships Robinson Flag has won, as well as being extremely protective of the current JV winning streak that reaches back to 2011. He has also been a part of the three consecutive NIRSA National Championships won by the University of Florida Women's team. Outside of flag, he is a teacher at Corbett Prep. Mimbs has a twelve-year old daughter, Ella.

Brian Ridge is joining the coaching staff for his inaugural year in 2020, after five years of announcing for the Lady Knights flag football team. He looks forward to expanding  his role with the team and learning from all involved. Long ago he was a collegiate soccer player and has been involved with many charitable organizations in the Tampa Bay Area. 

Vaughn Volpi is in his sixth year of coaching Flag Football. he coached Boys Football at Robinson for 28 years and is the Girls' Soccer Head Coach. His speciality is defense. He is the Executive Director of the Fox Foundation and on the of the Founders of the Robinson Foundation. He is married to Barbara with a son Chase, who plays football at  Samford University, and a daughter, Brooke, a Senior at Robinson and a flag player.



Kylee Gorngpratum is in her second year of coaching Flag Football. She graduated from Robinson in 2014. During her time as a Knight, was on the first state championship team in 2014 and was named the state player of the year in 2014. Along with being on the flag football team, she also was a captain on the varsity volleyball team. She went to the South Dakota School of Mines to play volleyball and now is back in Tampa working in a law office. She also serves as the head volleyball coach for Robinson.



Arnaldo Abreu  is in his first year of coaching Flag Football. He graduated from Robinson in 2004 as valedictorian while also serving as class president and captain of the basketball team. Outside of flag, Abreu is part owner of Relocation Strategies Tampa and serves as an assistant volleyball coach for Robinson.
